The personal trainers will work with you to develop a personalised training program that’s tailored to your needs.

They also offer nutritional advice and guidance to help you build muscle and help reduce body fat.

Injury Rehabilitation

After injury our personal trainers and physios work together to develop personalised rehabilitation programs, focused on your individual needs. These will be designed to help you recover from injury, alleviate pain and improve your overall function.

PTs will work systematically, and progressively with you, at your own pace, to ensure a safe and effective result.

Our Personal Trainers

Amy Matthews - Personal Trainer - Core Director

Amy Matthews

Certified Personal Trainer - Core Director

Amy has a passion for injury prevention and recovery and has worked with all age ranges in her career.

Having worked in commercial gyms and small independent facilities, Amy now splits her time between being a Fitness Instructor at a large commercial gym and doing 1:1 rehab/training sessions at Core.

During the pandemic, Amy trained to become a yoga teacher, the benefits of which she enjoys to bring into her rehab and training sessions.

In her spare time Amy loves the time she spends with her family and her dog. Amy loves to exercise, travel and enjoys music and dancing.

Several years ago on Cathy’s advice, I began regular personal training sessions with Amy. I have previously suffered a slipped disc and other lower back injuries, so I find Amy’s weekly PT sessions of enormous benefit and great fun! This has improved my core strength and enables me to play golf regularly.

Joey Matthews - Personal Trainer

Joey Matthews

Certified Personal Trainer

Having started his career playing and coaching football, Joey qualified as a personal trainer. He has gained experience working in a large commercial gym, before building his career around 1:1 Personal training for strength and fitness training.

When not working Joey enjoys music, travelling and spending time with his family, dog and friends.

I really look forward to my weekly sessions with Joey, they are very much a high point of the week. Joey has been coaching me now for almost a year and I have seen a marked improvement in my fitness, my core and upper body strength is much improved as is my back and posture.

As a retired 66 year old who spent his working career behind a desk I have had zero prior gym experience, so working with a personal trainer is completely new to me.

As a regular golfer I had found that over time I have been losing distance, my work with Joey has definitely resulted in me hitting the ball further.

The sessions with Joey are varied and fun. He does challenge and push me, which I appreciate. I really feel so much better as a consequence of my sessions with Joey and I very much intend to carry on working with him for the long-term.

Aimee Sharp - Personal Trainer

Aimee Sharp

Certified Personal Trainer

Aimee qualified as a PT in 2011 working in both London and Brighton.

She completed her Level 4 BACPR Cardiac rehabilitation instructor course during the pandemic.

Aimee now works at Core offering 1:1 cardiac rehab and personal training, and also runs cardiac rehab classes in the local community.

Outside of work Aimee enjoys running, cooking and enjoying time with her young family

“Aimee has been my PT on and off for many years. She is very approachable and puts people at ease with her kind and fun approach to sessions. Aimee is very knowledgeable on not just fitness, but diet too and we often discuss the best combinations for me. I’ve never felt judged or under pressure, she is here for me and what I need to lose weight or just feel generally fitter and stronger. The sessions are always varied and suited to my goals and she is great at adjusting them if needed on the day. I couldn’t recommend Aimee enough.”
